About Whirlpool
Whirlpool began as the Upton Machine Company, founded in 1911 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, by Louis Upton and his uncle Emory Upton. Its first product was an electric motor driven wringer washer. The company, still based in Michigan, now also owns Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir, Amana and Inglis, among other brands. Its product range spans washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers and freezers.

Whirlpool’s product help page puts the plate in different spots. Front load washers and dryers: inside the door on the opening rim. Top load washers: beneath the lid on the tub rim. Built in dishwashers: left side of the tub frame. Fridges: inside the fresh food compartment, left side for most, right for side by side. Ranges: oven frame.

How service works
We can look at your Whirlpool appliance in your home, or in our shop for smaller items. In-shop diagnostic: $50 plus GST, credited toward the repair if you go ahead. In-home service call: $95 plus GST ($95 plus mileage plus GST outside Calgary), with parts and labour on top. You get a repair quote before any work. Repairs carry a 90-day warranty.
