About Turner Valley
Drilling expert A.W. Dingman struck wet natural gas here on 14 May 1914, which began an oil and gas boom that made the Turner Valley field the largest producer in the British Empire. The community is named for settlers Robert and John Turner, who arrived in 1886. Highway 22 runs through it beside the Sheep River, and since 1 January 2023 it has been part of the Town of Diamond Valley.

Turner Valley is a community on Highway 22 and the Sheep River, about 60 kilometres southwest of Calgary, and has been part of the Town of Diamond Valley since 2023. Turner Valley is reached by heading southwest from Calgary, usually by Highway 22. Smaller items can be brought to our shop.
