About NE Calgary
Deerfoot Trail is the spine of the northeast, running north through Vista Heights, past the 16 Avenue NE junction with Highway 1 and on toward Calgary International Airport, which lies north-northeast of downtown. Bridgeland, first settled in the 1880s as Germantown, anchors the older end near the Bow River. Skyview Ranch, built out in the 2010s, anchors the newer one. Stoney Trail wraps around the quadrant’s outer edge, and Highway 1 crosses it as 16 Avenue NE.
