About Chestermere
Chestermere borders Calgary’s east side, a shared boundary since a 2009 annexation. The lake started as a wetland that was dammed by 1907 as part of an irrigation system, and leased cabins gradually became permanent homes. Chestermere turned into a summer village in 1977, a town in 1993 and a city on 1 January 2015, with Rocky View County on its other sides. It counted 22,163 residents in 2021, and the Trans-Canada Highway runs nearby.
