About Inglewood
Where the Elbow and Bow rivers meet, Inglewood grew up from 1875, right after Fort Calgary, and is the city’s oldest neighbourhood. It was first known as East Calgary or Brewery Flats, took the Inglewood name in 1911 from a nearby homestead, and was annexed that same year. Centred on 9 Avenue SE, it now has the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, the Music Mile, and a little over 4,100 residents in 2021.
